Tetsuko Kuroyanagi

Notable as both a television host and an author, Kuroyanagi rose to fame while hosting Japan's first television talk show, Tetsuko no Heya, and subsequently penned a bestselling children's book titled Totto-chan, the Little Girl at the Window. Also a philanthropist, she is well known for her work with UNICEF and the World Wide Fund for Nature.
After training as an opera singer at the Tokyo College of Music, she studied acting at New York City's Mary Tarcai Studio. Early in her entertainment career, she voiced a character in the puppetry-based Thunderbirds science fiction series.
Her numerous honors include the Global Leadership for Children Award and the prestigious Japanese Cultural Broadcasting Award.
Born to a professional musician father, she spent her childhood in Tokyo, Japan.
She and Vietnamese actor Xuan Bac were both appointed UNICEF Goodwill Ambassadors.
