Ted Curson
Trumpet Player
Trumpeter known for his performances and collaborations with Charles Mingus.
He saw a newspaper salesman playing a silver trumpet when he was a child and was inspired. He went to the Granoff School of Music in Philadelphia.
He recorded more than twenty albums over the course of his life.
His father wanted him to play alto saxophone, but he finally agreed to buy Curson a trumpet when he was ten years old.
Curson was urged by Miles Davis to, in 1956, move from Philadelphia to New York City.
