Tan Swie Hian
Sculptor
Contemporary sculptor, calligrapher, and poet who was honored with Singapore's Cultural Medallion in 1987.
He studied English and French at Nanyang University before serving as the Press Attaché for the French Embassy in Singapore.
His painting, "The Moon is Orbed," sold for $3.7 million.
He moved with his family to Singapore when he was an infant.
He and Christian Daniel Rauch both had careers as sculptors.
