Tabata Amaral
Politician
Political scientist, activist, and astrophysicist known for her work within the Brazilian education system. She is a member of the Democratic Labor Party and was elected federal deputy for Sao Paulo in the 2018 election. She also writes columns for CBN radio and Glamor Magazine.
In 2012, she attended Harvard University on a full ride scholarship. Her dissertation examined the reformatting of Brazilian public schools which launched her political and activist career. She then went on to found the Map Education Movement in 2014.
She has won several honors and awards including a Gold Medal at the 2011 International Chemistry Olympiad and the Kenneth Maxwell Award for her thesis at Harvard.
She was born and raised in Sao Paulo, Brazil and is the sister of Allan Thales Amaral de Pontes.
She met with U.S. President Barack Obama during his trip to Sao Paulo in October of 2017 along with several other of the countries leaders.
