Sushil Koirala

Affiliated with the Nepali Congress Party, this prominent politician was elected Prime Minister of Nepal in 2014. Previously, he had served as president of his political party.
He began his political career in the mid 1950s and, during the 1960s and 1970s, was forced to seek political asylum in India. While In India, he edited a political publication titled Tarun.
He was imprisoned for three years for his role in the 1973 hijacking of an airplane.
The son of Kumindi Koirala and Bodh Prasad Koirala, he was born into a family that included three Nepali prime ministers: Bishweshwar Prasad Koirala, Girija Prasad Koirala, and Matrika Prasad Koirala.
He and Pushpa Kamal Dahal were both prime ministers of Nepal.
