An Azerbaijani children's author, he is known for such works as The Greedy One, Fortune's Wheel, and Falcon's Nest. He was also a playwright and a journalist.
He graduated from the Transcaucasian Teachers Seminary in 1894.
His works often center around themes of patriarchy, social backwardness, and despotism.
He was born into a noble family in Shusha, Azerbaijan.
He took on the title of "The Second" in order to not be confused with Mirza Akhundov .
