Steven Holl
Architect
Architect who designed Simmons Hall at MIT, earning him the Harleston Parker Medal in 2004. He also designed the 2007 Bloch Building addition to Kansas City's Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, as well as the Beijing-based Linked Hybrid mixed-use complex in 2009.
He did his graduate studies at the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London. He was awarded first prize in the 1988 Amerika-Gedenkbibliothek International Library Design Competition.
He began teaching at Columbia University in 1981 and received the Alvar Aalto Medal in 1998.
His family was residing in Bremerton when he was born. He married Brazilian artist Solange Fabião.
He became a professor at Columbia, the school poet Kenneth Koch attended.
