Most well known for his portrayal of PC Geoff Younger on the ITV series Heartbeat, he is also notable for his guest spot in a 2013 episode of Holby City.
During his early years, he performed at the Derby Playhouse and studied acting at both Germany's Athanor Theater Akademie and at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama.
He participated in the British Shakespeare Company's 2009 tour of Much Ado About Nothing and A Midsummer Night's Dream.
He spent his youth in Chesterfield and Bolsover, Derbyshire, England.
He and Dominic Brunt were both in the cast of a 2011 UK video production titled Emmerdale: Paddy and Marlon's Big Night In.
