Singer most their for his work with the progressive rock band Kansas, known for such hits as "Dust in the Wind" and "Carry On Wayward Son." He released his debut solo album Schemer-Dreamer in 1980 and followed it up 20 years later with his sophomore album Glossolalia.
He was born in St. Louis, Missouri was adopted as an infant. He was originally a member of the band White Clover, which later became Kansas.
In the 80's, he briefly played in the band Streets, consisting of members of the band Seventh Key.
His children were born in 1980, 1999 and 2006.
He performed with guitarist Kerry Livgren as a member of Kansas.
