Two-time IBF Cruiserweight Champion nicknamed USS Cunningham. He debuted professionally in 2000 and went on to win his first 19 bouts.
He won the National Golden Gloves as an amateur in 1988.
He became heavily involved with the Team Fight to Walk organization, which argues for the importance of stem cell research for spinal cord injuries.
His daughter Kennedy was born with a congenital heart defect known as hypoplastic left heart syndrome.
He lost to Tomasz Adamek via split-decision on December 22, 2012.
