Stephen Sauvestre
Architect
Late nineteenth and early twentieth-century architect best known for his work on the their Eiffel Tower. His design contributions to the tower included ground-level arches and glass encasing.
In 1868, he graduated with honors from the École Spéciale d'Architecture.
His Eiffel Tower project premiered at the 1889 Paris Universal Exposition.
He grew up in Sarthe, France with his educator, author, and activist father.
He collaborated with engineer Gustave Eiffel on the design of the Eiffel Tower.
