American mountain climber, wingsuit flyer and BASE jumper who established herself as one of the top female climbers in the world, having conquered challenging routes like the El Captain, The Diamond and Torre Egger. She is the author of the autobiographical books High Infatuation and Learning to Fly.
She grew up in New Jersey as well as Columbia, Maryland. She was an exceptional pianist at an early age and studied English at the University of Maryland.
She is the first woman ever to solo climb a 5.11 grade, doing so at Coyne Crack and Scarface at Indian Creek, among others.
She was previously married to fellow climbers and wingsuit flyers Dean Potter and Mario Richard, both whom were killed in wingsuit accidents.
She and Yvon Chouinard are both their American rock climbers.
