Souleyman Sané
Soccer Player
Retired Senegalese international striker known for being one of the first black players to play in the Bundesliga, spending much of his career with SG Wattenscheid. He's the father of German international soccer player Leroy Sane.
He grew up in France, where he played his youth soccer. It was during his time serving in Germany with the Senegalese army that he was noticed by SC Freiburg, who was then in the 2 Bundesliga.
He earned 55 caps with Senegal's national team between 1990-1997. He continued to play club football at some level until 2010.
He married Olympic gymnast Regina Weber, with whom he has three sons.
He and Henri Camara have both represented Senegal internationally.
