She voiced the character Mama Topolino in the 2011 Disney feature Cars 2.
She married Carlo Ponti in 1957; the couple divorced in 1962, but remarried in 1966. She had two sons named Edoardo and Carlo.
Upon receiving the Academy Award for Best Actress for her role in Vittorio De Sica's Two Women, she became the first actress to win an Academy Award for a non-English-speaking performance.
