Sidney Moncrief
Basketball Player
Known for his stellar defensive play, he was nicknamed "Sid the Squid." He played in the NBA from 1979 to 1991, mostly for the Milwaukee Bucks and appeared in five NBA All-Star games.
He starred at the University of Arkansas from 1975 to 1979 and was selected 5th overall in the 1979 NBA Draft by the Milwaukee Bucks.
He won the NBA's first Defensive Player of the Year Awards in 1983 and 1984.
His son Brett played wide receiver for the Troy University Trojans in Alabama.
He was greatly admired by Hall of Famer Michael Jordan, who won the Defensive Player of the Year award 4 years after Moncrief did.
