She grew up in the United States and went on to attend the University of Washington.
She was told by doctors that she would never be able to dance after being installed with a pacemaker. She has written a number of articles on emotional wellbeing and has given hundreds of speeches in over 70 cities.
She has a brother named Shahrose.
She and Aarti Chhabria are both Miss India Worldwide winners.
