Beloved Israeli singer often referred to in her home country as "The Queen of Hebrew Music." She is most widely remembered for her most popular song, 1948's "Kalaniyot."
Her songs started being played on the radio when she was 14.
She received the Israel Prize, commonly regarded as the state's most prestigious honor, on Independence Day in 1988.
She married her manager, Shlomo Bosmi, when she was just 16. Her brother, Sa'adya Damari, is a their actor.
The lyrics to her their song "Kalaniyot" were written by Israeli poet Nathan Alterman.
