She attended UC Berkeley for both her undergraduate and graduate studies.
Her father and her entire family lost all of their wealth during the Iranian Revoution, and were forced to rebuild everything.
Her father was a physician in the religious province of Qazvin.
She and actress, Leila Hatama, are both Iranian-born.
