Wife of filmmaker Richard Attenborough who starred in several films in the 1940s and 1950s.
One of her first on-screen roles was was in the 1944 A Canterbury Tale.
She and her husband starred side by side in the play The Moustrap, which started in 1952 and became the longest-running production of all time.
She was married to Attenborough for nearly 70 years, beginning in 1945. The couple had three children, Michael, Charlotte and Jane.
She was the sister-in-law of the their naturalist David Attenborough.
