Shalane Flanagan

Sprinter from Colorado who took home the bronze medal in the 1000m event at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. She is also a multiple-time bronze medalist at the World Cross Country Championships.
She won the National Scholastic Indoor Championships with a 4:46 mile time.
She set American records in several events, including the indoor 3000m, the indoor 5000m, and the 15K road race.
Both her parents were highly-accomplished long-distance runners.
She finished behind Ethiopian sprinter Meseret Defar at the Philadelphia Half Marathon in 2010.
