Severo Ochoa
Chemist
Doctor and biochemist who won the 1959 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for his work on the synthesis of RNA. He split the prize with American biochemist Arthur Kornberg.
He attended the University of Madrid Medical School.
The asteroid 117435 Severochoa was named in his honor.
His father, also named Severo, was a lawyer and businessman.
He and Roger Kornberg are both Nobel Prize-winning biochemists.
