Former left back that made over 394 appearances during his club career for teams such as Barcelona and Atlético Madrid. He is also a former member of the Spanish national soccer team, in which he played at the 1994 FIFA World Cup and 1998 World Cup, as well as the UEFA Euro Championships in 1996 and 2000.
Began his youth soccer career playing for the Esport Club Granollers based in Catalonia, Spain.
He made his Spanish national team debut on February 9, 1994, during an international friendly game against Poland. He scored his first and only career international goal during that game. He was named the interim manager of F.C Barcelona in October 2021.
He is a native of Les Franqueses in Catalonia, Spain.
He has played alongside Iker Casillas as a member of the Spanish national team at the 2000 UEFA Championship.
