Semyon Varlamov

Goaltender who debuted in the NHL with the Washington Capitals in 2008 and helped the Russian national team win gold at the 2012 World Championships; traded to the Colorado Avalanche in July, 2011 and had his breakout year for the team during the 2013-14 season.
He took silver in the 2006 and 2007 World Junior Championships.
He was drafted 23rd overall by the Washington Capitals in 2006; five years later, the Capitals traded him away in exchange for the Avalanche's first round pick in 2012.
He grew up in Kuybyshev, Russia.
He played alongside NHL All-Star and Olympic silver medalist Sergei Fedorov on the Washington Capitals.
