French politician who became the first woman to be nominated by a major party for the French presidential election in 2007. She was the French Minister of the Environment and Way of Life from 1992 to 1993 before becoming a Deputy of the National Assembly representing Deux-Sèvres' 2nd constituency.
She graduated from Ecole nationale d'administration in 1980.
She wrote the book The Channel-Surfing Kids Are Fed-Up, which was published in 1989.
She was born on a military base in Senegal and was one of eight children.
She is a female politician like Nancy Pelosi.
