NHL goaltender best known as a member of the New Jersey Devils, who originally drafted him in 1997. He was previously a four-year star at Boston College, winning the NCAA title with the team in 2001.
He was a standout goalie for the Boston College Eagles, being named to the Hockey East and NCAA All-Tournament Teams in 2001.
He was Team USA's goalie at the IHFF World Championships in 2009 and 2010, posting consecutive shut-outs against Kazakhstan and France.
He married and had children with a woman named Vanessa.
He and Brian Gionta, who scored 123 goals at Boston College, are considered two of the greatest players in Eagles history.
