Fantasy author who wrote the Wayfarer Redemption series and The Axis Trilogy. Her novel, The Wounded Hawk, won the Aurealis Award for Fantasy.
She was a registered nurse before returning to school to complete her Ph.D. in modern English history. She subsequently taught medieval history at La Trobe University, Bendigo.
She became their throughout Australia when she published her first novel, BattleAxe.
Born Sara Warneke, she grew up in Penola, South Australia, and is a descendant of psychic Robert James Lees. She died of ovarian cancer at the age of fifty-four.
John Flanagan was another popular Australian author of fantasy novels for young adults.
