Independent filmmaker whose feature debut Sleepwalk was selected for the 1987 Museum of Modern Art's New Director Film Series.
She attended New York University's Tisch School of the Arts.
She coined the phrase necro-tourism in reference to the people coming to see the ruins of the World Trade Center towers.
She worked with partner Jim Jamusch beginning in the early 1980s.
Her 1993 film When Pigs Fly was scored by the musician Joe Strummer.
