She made her acting debut at 16, when she appeared in the drama À Nos Amours (1983).
She made her directorial debut with the documentary Her Name is Sabine (2011), which earned her nominations at the César Awards, Cannes Film Festival, and more.
She married actor and screenwriter Guillaume Laurant, with whom she has a daughter named Adèle. She also has a daughter named Jeanne with actor William Hurt.
She co-starred with Isabelle Huppert in the thriller La Cérémonie (1995).
