Landscape painter, etcher, and printmaker who was a key figure in the Romanticism movement in Britain. He was known for his visionary pastoral paintings.
He started painting churches at 12 years old and exhibited works at the Royal Academy when he was 14 years old.
His etching of "The Lonely Tower" in 1879 was one of his most notable works.
He was born to a bookseller and Baptist minister in Surrey Square.
He met William Blake in 1824. This meeting inspired his work over the ensuing ten years.
