He attended Barnsley College in South Yorkshire and was a catering student.
His duo Sam & Mark reached #1 on the UK charts with a cover of The Beatles' "With a Little Help From My Friends."
He married Anne Foy in December of 2012. Together they had a daughter in 2014.
He came in third place on the reality show Pop Idol, a show hosted by Anthony McPartlin.
