Renowned chef, restauranteur and TV personality known as the "Godfather of Poke." He's credited as a founding contributor of Pacific rim cuisine.
He graduated from the Kapiolani Community College culinary arts program. His first culinary job was at the Turtle Bay Hotel in Oahu, and he also worked at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in NYC.
He's created several Hawaiian restaurants over the years, including the Huki Lau Cafe, Sam Choy's Kai Lanai and Sam Choy's Poke to the Max.
He was born to a mother named Clairemoana and a father named Hung Sam Choy. He and his wife Carol have two sons named Sam Jr. and Christopher.
He's worked with many other their chefs throughout his career, including Emeril Lagasse and Guy Fieri.
