WTA champion who made it to the Wimbledon semifinals in 2011 after entering as a wildcard, becoming just the second woman to achieve this in Wimbledon history.
Her father began coaching her when she was seven years old and continued coaching her when she went pro.
She rebounded from injuries in 2011 to become World No. 12 in 2012.
In 1979, her parents, Richard and Elizabeth Lisicki, immigrated from Poland to West Germany.
She was defeated by Maria Sharapova in the 2012 Australian Open.
