Scrum-half and fly-half who debuted for the South African national rugby union team in 2006 and also played for the Sharks in Super Rugby.
He was educated at Grey College in Bloemfontein, South Africa.
He played for Ulster Rugby in the Pro 12.
He married Monique Pienaar in 2009.
He played alongside captain Jean De Villiers on South Africa's national team.
