Poet
Welsh poet and Anglican priest who is known for Song at the Year's Turning, The Bread of Truth, and other literary works. He also wrote several Welsh-language prose works, including Blwyddyn yn Llyn (A Year in Llyn) an Neb (Nobody).
He studied theology at St. Michael's College in Llandaff, Wales.
His popular late works, which focused on Welsh culture, sold close to 20,000 copies each in Great Britain.
He was married to artist Elsi Eldridge. The couple's son was born in 1945.
He was nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1996. The recipient of the prize that year was Seamus Heaney.
