Musician, producer, songwriter, and member of the indie rock band Vampire Weekend and the electro-soul band Discovery.
Raised in Washington, D.C., he later moved to New York City, where he studied music at Columbia University.
He collaborated with acclaimed music producer Ariel Rechtshaid on a 2013 album entitled Modern Vampires of the City.
His Iranian immigrant mother, Najmieh Batmanglij, had a career as a cookbook writer.
He wrote music for the 2011 screen thriller Sound Of My Voice, directed by his brother Zal Batmanglij.
