Born Rodney Smith, he is an English rapper who The Times once described as "the voice of urban Britain."
He grew up in Stockwell, London in a strict Pentecostal upbringing, where he spent much of his early years in poverty.
His song Witness (1 Hope) was a huge hit in the UK in 1999.
His parents are from a small village in Jamaica called Banana Hole where his father was a preacher and tailor.
He has performed with Enlgish singer Beth Orton.
