Motorcycle Grand Prix road racer who won three World titles and four British championships in a career spanning over three decades. He raced for Honda, Suzuki, Cagiva, and Norton.
He made his debut Grand Prix race in 1983, 6 years after becoming active professionally, at the 500cc South African Grand Prix.
His notable victories were at the 1979 and 1980 TT Formula Three World Championship and numerous titles at the Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix during the '80s.
He comes from a large family of 10 total siblings including himself in Langley Mill. His son Leon also became a professional motorcycle racer.
He was a long-time professional racer much like NASCAR driver Jeff Gordon.
