Roland Penrose
Painter
English artist remembered for being a key figure of the surrealist movement in Europe. He helped organize the London International Surrealist Exhibition and later founded the Institute of Contemporary Arts.
He worked with the British Red Cross in Italy and studied architecture at Queens' College, Cambridge.
During World War II, he taught camouflage to British soldiers at at Osterley Park.
He married photographer and model Lee Miller in 1947. Together, the had a son named Antony.
He was friends with fellow surrealist Pablo Picasso.
