Robinson Jeffers
Poet
American poet who wrote The Women at Point Sur and other poetry collections with California coastal settings. He was also a prominent environmentalist.
He was the son of a Pennsylvania minister and moved to California to attend Occidental College and later, the University of Southern California.
His poem "The Beaks of Eagles" was transformed by The Beach Boys into a 1973 pop song.
His affair with Una Call Kuster made the front page of the Los Angeles Times, as Kuster was the wife of a prominent attorney. Jeffers and Kuster ended up marrying.
He was a friend of Ansel Adams , a photographer known for his images of the American West.
