Robert Neyland
Football Coach
Army brigadier general and Tennessee football coach who had three separate stints with the Vols, winning the championships in two of them.
A standout athlete even among his peers at Westpoint, he graduated in 1916 and served in France in WW I.
He and Frank Leahy were the only two coaches to win titles in non-conescutive tenures in the entire 20th century.
He was born in Greenville, Texas.
In between the wars he served as Douglas MacArthur's aide, and then at the outbreak of WW II served in the China-Burman-India theater.
