Robert Hass
Poet
San Francisco-born poet who served as United States Poet Laureate from 1995-1997. His 2007 poetry collection, Time and Materials, won both the National Book Award and the Pulitzer Prize.
He attended Stanford University and was greatly influenced by San Francisco Bay Area poets such as Allen Ginsberg and Gary Snyder.
Sun Under Wood, his 1996 poetry collection, delves into his mother's struggle with alcoholism.
He married Brenda Hamilton in 1988.
He and his poetry were featured in a 1999 Daryl Hannah film entitled Wildflowers.
