Robert Cooper Grier
Supreme Court Justice
Served as an associate justice of the U.S. Supreme Court from 1846 to 1870.
He graduated from Dickinson College in 1812.
He was one of two Northerners that sided with the majority in the landmark Dred v. Scott case, which ruled that African Americans weren't citizens and thus couldn't sue in federal court.
He married Isabelle Rose in 1829. The couple had one child together.
He was nominated to the Supreme Court by President James K. Polk.
