He graduated from Brentwood High School prior to enrolling at the University of Arkansas, where he played collegiate baseball.
He made his major league pitching against the Colorado Rockies on May 6, 2015 as a member of the Arizona Diamondbacks.
He is a native of Brentwood, Tennessee. He lives with his wife, Taylor, and their three children.
Growing up, he played on the same Nashville-area travel team as Mookie Betts.
