He attended Christian Brothers College High School in St. Louis, followed by the University of Missouri, where he graduated in 2009. He was a member of Delta Sigma Phi fraternity.
He first wrote under the name Bacon in high school for an underground newspaper he started with friends. The school's administration eventually caught him and suspended him for his inappropriate content.
He hails from St. Louis, Missouri and he later moved to Austin, Texas.
He met Josh Gad at a Sony event in November 2014.
