Richard Russo
Novelist
An American novelist, short story writer, and screenwriter, he is best known for Empire Falls and Nobody's Fool, both of which were adapted for the screen. His other works include Elsewhere: A Memoir and Bridge of Sighs.
He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree, a Master of Fine Arts degree, and a Doctor of Philosophy degree from the University of Arizona.
His 2001 novel, Empire Falls, was awarded the 2002 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction.
He grew up in Gloversville, New York. He and his wife, Barbara, later became parents to two daughters.
His novel, Nobody's Fool, was made into a 1994 film starring Paul Newman.
