Richard Painter
Lawyer
American attorney who became the S. Walter Richey Professor of Corporate Law at the University of Minnesota. He began serving as vice-chair of the government watchdog group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington in 2016.
He earned his history degree from Harvard University and his JD from Yale Law School.
He ran for the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party nomination for U.S. Senate in 2018.
His wife Karen is a professor of music history at the University of Minnesota. They have three children.
He was the chief White House ethics lawyer during the administration of President George W. Bush.
