Richard G. Hovannisian
Historian
Middle Eastern historian who payed special attention to the First Republic of Armenia and the Armenian Genocide. In 1998, he edited Remembrance and Denial: The Case of the Armenian Genocide.
He attended UC Berkeley and earned his Ph.D from UCLA in 1966.
In 1980, he wrote The Armenian Holocaust and in 1997, he wrote The Armenian People from Ancient to Modern Times.
His father, Gaspar Gavorian, and his mother were Armenian Genocide survivors.
His middle name, Gable, came from actor Clark Gable.
