English actor best known for his role as Lennie Godber in the BBC television series, Porridge.
He attended Alderman White Secondary Modern School but left when he was 15 years old to pursue acting.
His poetry was published in 1980 with a book called With Love.
He was married twice, to Judy Loe and Margaret Bradley, and had two daughters, Samantha and Kate.
His first role was in 1970 in the television series, The Lovers with actress, Paula Wilcox.
