In the later part of his career, he was more active as a director. But as a child and teenager, he was known for his role as Beaver's friend Richard Rickover, in the final two seasons of Leave it to Beaver.
Two of his earliest roles were in The DuPont Show with June Allyson and The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet, appearing in an episode of each.
He appeared in two episodes of The Suite Life of Zack & Cody in 2007, ten years after his prior on-screen appearance.
He is the son of radio show actor Charles Correll. He has three siblings, one of which is Charles Correll, Jr. who was a cinematographer for the comedy classic Animal House.
He was a co-creator of Hannah Montana, which starred Miley Cyrus.
