Ricardo Lagos
Politician
Lawyer, economist and politician who served as President of Chile from 2000 to 2006.
He received his law degree from the University of Chile in 1960, and his Ph.D. in economics from Duke University in 1966.
In 2007 he took up an economics and political teaching position at the Watson Institute for International Studies at Brown University.
His parents were Froilán Lagos Sepúlveda and Emma Escobar Morales . He was married to Carmen Weber from 1961 to 1969. They had children Ricardo and Ximena. He married Luisa Durán in 1971. They had a child, Francisca, together.
He was succeeded as President of Chile by Michelle Bachelet.
